Wayne Patton has been confirmed as the executive director of the University of Calgary Energy Centre.

Patton, who joined the U of C in 1991, has served as the acting executive director since the Energy Centre was established in 2000.

Prior to joining the U of C, he worked in the petroleum industry in Canada and the United States in a variety of roles over a 20-year career.

The U of C Energy Centre is a collaborative centre for international energy and educational research.

Cinnaroll Bakeries has appointed Don Cline as vice-president of franchise operations for its Cinnzeo Bakery division.

Cline will work with Cinnzeo’s franchise operators in North America, the Middle East and southeast Asia, providing them with operational, sales and marketing support.

He joins Cinnzeo from Cinnabon, where he was director of operations for the company’s Arizona market.

He has more than 25 years of operational development, sales, marketing, management and consulting experience gained in the restaurant and food franchise industries.

John Delaney has joined the Calgary branch of The Osborne Group as a principal. He was previously with Canadian Airlines as managing director, cargo operations, and before that was a senior project engineer with Stantec Inc.

The Osborne Group provides contract executives to client companies and has branches in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal.

Calgary-based Real Resources has named Pamela Orr to the post of CFO and vice-president of finance.

Orr, who has 20 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, replaces Lesley Miller, who has resigned to spend time with family.

Real Resources Inc. (RER-TSE) is an energy company active in the exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas in Western Canada.

David F. Perrins is the new chief financial officer of QCC Technologies Inc. Perrins, who has a wide range of experience in the financial management and control areas of public and private companies, was most recently chief financial officer of DST Tubulars Inc.

QCC Technologies Inc. – through its operating subsidiaries in Calgary and Saskatoon – provides information technology services.

Bison Security Group has made changes in the management ranks.

Brian Eady has been named manager of technical services, while Kenn Kardish has been named legal counsel/manager of general investigations.

Eady previously worked 34 years with TELUS Corporation, overseeing corporate security, investigations and technology.

At Bison, he will be responsible for technical countermeasures surveys (de-bugging), security audits and risk assessment surveys of client facilities. Kardish is a retired RCMP officer who helped open the first polygraph section for the RCMP in Victoria in 1977 and was a senior polygraphist in B.C.

He practised law for more than 15 years and is an expert in interview and interrogation techniques.

Calgary-based Bison Security Group offers investigative services to the legal, corporate, insurance and retail communities.

Cheryl Grant has joined the Calgary office of Synergy Partners as assistant VP of mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining Synergy, Grant was assistant vice-president in the acquisition and divestiture advisory practice of PriceWaterhouseCoopers Securities.

Synergy Partners is a business sales advisory firm specializing in the sale of mid-market companies of $5 million to $10 million in value. The firm also has an Edmonton office.
