BC Pavilion Corp. (PavCo) has announced the appointment of Ken Cretney as the new general manager of the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre (VCEC), effective Oct. 1. Cretney is currently the GM of Vancouver's Marriott Pinnacle Hotel. Responsible for BC Place, which opened in 1983, and the VCEC, which opened in 1987, PavCo is a Crown corporation of the Province of British Columbia.
Potash One Inc. (TSX:KCL) has engaged Max Ramey as VP of solution mining for its Legacy potash project in southern Saskatchewan. Ramey previously held the position of principal adviser at Rio Tinto. Potash One is a Vancouver-based company.
Nevsun Resources Ltd. (TSX:NSU, AMEX:NSU) has undergone an executive restructuring. Cliff Davis has been appointed president and CEO, taking over from John Clarke, who is staying on as vice-chairman to the board. Davis, previously the executive VP and CFO for the past several years, will be succeeded as CFO by Peter Hardie, a CA who has been with the company since early 2005. Trevor Moss has been hired as executive VP. He brings extensive project development experience. Based in Vancouver, Nevsun is a gold and base-metal explorer/developer with a focus on Africa, principally its $250-million Bisha project in Eritrea.
Absolute Software Corp. (TSX:ABT) has promoted Carter McCrary to COO. He joined the company earlier this year as senior VP for strategy.
Absolute provides computer theft recovery, data protection and asset-tracking solutions. Its head office is in Vancouver.
QuestAir Technologies Inc. (TSX:QAR), a maker of gas purification systems for various industries, has promoted Andrew Hall to president and CEO. He replaces Jonathan Wilkinson. Hall has been with QuestAir for seven years and was most recently VP of sales and business development. QuestAir is headquartered in Burnaby.
Village Farms Canada LP (TSX:VFF.UN) says Kenneth Hollander, executive VP, CFO and a director, is leaving the Delta company after nine years to pursue other interests. Hollander will remain until a successor is found and has agreed to a consulting arrangement thereafter for the transition.
Village Farms (formerly Hot House Growers Income Fund) is one of the largest producers and marketers of greenhouse-grown tomatoes, bell peppers and cucumbers in North America with seven distribution centres.
Oro Gold Resources Ltd. (TSXV:OGR) has recruited two new officers. Larry Okada becomes CFO and Mimy Fernandez-Maldonado becomes corporate secretary. Okada, a CA, has been in public practice with Deloitte, his own firm and PwC for more than 35 years. Fernandez-Maldonado previously was corporate secretary of seven publicly traded mining and oil and gas companies. Based in Vancouver, Oro Gold has 12 properties located in Mexico and Panama.
Greystar Resources Ltd. (TSX:GSL) reports that its CFO, Alan Crombie, has resigned from the Vancouver-based company to pursue other opportunities. Frederick Felder will function as acting CFO during the search for a replacement. Greystar is focused on precious-metal reservoirs, principally the Angostura gold/silver deposit in Colombia.
West Timmins Mining Inc. (TSX:WTM) has named Larry Taddei, CA, to the position of CFO. He comes from a Vancouver-based gold producer where he was also CFO. WTM says its former CFO, Frank Hallam, will remain actively involved with the company as a director and officer. West Timmins is focused on the exploration and development of gold and related base-metal projects in the major gold camps of North America. Its head office is in Vancouver.
Hans Rasmussen has been appointed president of Maestro Ventures Ltd. (TSXV:MAP).
Rasmussen was most recently president and COO of Eaglecrest Explorations Ltd. He replaces Allan Williams, who will continue as a director. Maestro is an exploration company focused on precious and base-metal deposits in the eastern Great Basin. Its head office is in Langley.
Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. (TSX:NDM, AMEX:NAK) has engaged Marchand Snyman as CFO and a director. Snyman, a CA, had been VP of corporate development for Hunter Dickinson Inc. since 2006. He replaces Jeffrey Mason, who has retired.
Vancouver-based Northern Dynasty is focused on the development of the gold-copper-molybdenum Pebble Project in Alaska.
New Gold Inc. (TSX, AMEX:NGD) has promoted Jim Currie to VP of operations. The mining engineer recently joined NGD's management team from Miramar Mining Corp. Currie will work out of the Vancouver head office. New Gold is an intermediate gold-mining company with three operating assets in Mexico, Brazil and Australia, and two development projects in each of Canada and Chile.
