Farallon Resources Ltd. has appointed Dick Whittington as president and chief executive.
Whittington, a 28-year mining veteran, has been chief operating officer of Farallon since May 1. He will be responsible for the exploration and development of the company’s Campo Morado property in Mexico.
Vancouver-based Farallon (FAN-TSX) acquires, explores for and develops precious-metal properties.
Calvin Mah is the new chief financial officer of Chalk Media Corp.
He replaces Kim Campbell, who has resigned from the Vancouver-based company to pursue other business interests, the firm (CKM-TSX) said. Mah was most recently CFO of NetNation Communications Inc.
As well, the company has appointed Carrie Harrison as director of sales and marketing. She replaces Tracey Greason, who has resigned as vice-president of sales and marketing.
The company produces network television and in-flight programming as well as online services.
Sierra Wireless, Inc. is making changes at the top.
The Vancouver-based firm has promoted Jason Cohenour to the post of chief operating officer.
Cohenour joined the company in 1996 as vice- president of sales and was later promoted to senior vice-president of worldwide sales.
As well, the company has announced the resignation of Andrew Harries from the post of senior vice-president of marketing to pursue a new business opportunity.
Sierra has also appointed Bill Dodson to senior vice-president of operations. He joined the company in 2002 as VP of manufacturing and supply.
Jim Kirkpatrick, meanwhile, is the company’s new chief technical officer.
He joined Sierra last year as senior VP of engineering through the firm’s acquisition of AirPrime.
Sierra Wireless (SW-TSX) is a wireless services provider.
Al Stevens has joined Derek Oil & Gas Corp. as VP of operations.
Stevens, who has 35 years of technical and managerial experience, is a former president of Southwestern Energy and a former senior VP of worldwide exploration for Occidental Petroleum.
Derek (DRK-TSXV) is a Vancouver-based energy company.
Robert (Rob) Maxwell is the new vice-president of production for Pacific Regeneration Technologies Inc., based in Victoria.
Maxwell joined the company 10 years ago as nursery superintendent and has held a variety of increasingly senior roles since that time.
PRT is the largest producer of container-grown forest seedlings in North America. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the PRT Forest Regeneration Income Fund (PRT.UN-TSX), a publicly traded income trust
Quadra Mining Ltd. (QUA-TSX) has made several management appointments.
Guy Le Bel joins the company as manager of business development. He has 15 years of international experience in strategic and financial planning, business development, and mergers and acquisitions.
Brian Fowler takes on the role of exploration manager, bringing more than 23 years of experience in base and precious-metals exploration.
Meanwhile, Sophie Taylor assumes the role of manager of investor relations. She has more than 10 years of direct experience in investor relations, most recently as corporate communications officer with Nevada Pacific Gold Ltd.
Quadra is an emerging intermediate copper producer.
GeneMax Corp. has appointed Konstantine Sarafis chief operating officer.
Sarafis has 13 years of experience in building and operating biotechnology companies. He previously founded Interomex Biopharmaceuticals Inc. and most recently was a full-time consultant to emerging biotechnology companies and academic institutions.
Vancouver-based GeneMax (GMXX-Q2) specializes in the discovery and development of immunotherapeutics for the treatment of cancer and other diseases.
