Calgary-based satellite service provider Quick Link is broadening its signal in the oilpatch with five new deals at multiple sites across the prairies.
The company is expanding its operations with three-year contracts with EnCana Corp., EOG Resources Inc., Suncor Energy Inc., Anadarko Petroleum Corporation and Devon Energy Corporation.
Quick Link’s DataConnect technology will help support the high-speed broadband needs of these energy firms in their exploration and drilling operations in remote and rural regions of the four western provinces.
“We look to forward-thinking corporations who can see the many benefits associated with ubiquitous broadband access delivered by satellite and we are pleased to bring this service to the oil and gas sector as we expand across Western Canada,” said Chris Lewis, Quick Link’s president and CEO.
Quick Link has also signed a deal with Burnaby-based satellite network marketer Norsat International Inc., to buy up to 500 special terminals used for remote broadband communications in the oil and gas sector. Initial shipments of the units start this month.
