Dean Setoguchi has stepped down as vice-president of finance for Bow Valley Energy Ltd.

The company (BVX-TSX) is searching for a replacement for Setoguchi, who has joined Resolute Energy of Calgary as vice-president and chief financial officer. He has 12 years under his belt in the energy sector, including 19 months in the executive office at Bow Valley.

Also joining Resolute (RSE-TSX) is David Elgie, who will serve as executive vice- president and chief operating officer. Elgie has 22 years of experience in the oilpatch, most recently as vice-president of engineering and chief operating officer of Southward Energy until its sale in April.

Longtime Bowden farmer Stanley Mills is the new chair of the Olds College board of governors.

He replaces Alfred Savage, who has completed his second term at the college.

Mills, who has sat on the board since 1999 and served on several college committees, has worked as a farm consultant with the provincial agriculture department as well as with numerous agencies.

Olds College offers applied degree, certificate, diploma and apprenticeship programs in a variety of career fields.

Two leading international researchers have joined the National Research Council’s Edmonton-based National Institute for Nanotechnology (NINT).

Jillian Buriak and Hicham Fenniri, both nanotechnology group leaders at Purdue University in Indiana, have been recruited to Edmonton through a joint effort by the University of Alberta and the research council.

Buriak, a Toronto native, will work as a professor of chemistry at the U of A and will be nominated for a Canada Research Chair in the development of new materials. She will also lead the Materials and Interfacial Chemistry Group at NINT.

Fenniri will lead the Supramolecular Nanoscale Assembly Group at NINT and also work as a U of A chemistry professor.

The nanotechnology institute is mandated to carry out advanced research and promote innovation in support of a new generation of nanotechnology-based firms.

Calgary-based Canadian Pacific Railway has named Vince Goegan to the post of vice-president, logistics solutions.

Goegan has held a variety of senior roles with CPR, including assistant vice-president of strategy and director of customer service.

He will oversee the CPR’s transload, logistics and supply chain offerings.

Medisys Health Group Inc. has appointed Ann Matthews as director of its Calgary clinic.

Matthews brings more than 15 years of experience in public and private health care, including a role as account manager of Medisys.

Montreal-based Medisys (MHG-TSX) provides health-care services to corporations and insurance companies.

Andy Sharman is the new director of corporate development for the Certified Management Accountants of Alberta.

Sharman was previously a senior consultant with Canadian Career Partners with a specialty in executive search and career coaching. He also spent two decades in the banking sector.

Andrew Osis has joined CV Technologies Inc. as chief financial officer.

Osis has eight years of experience in capital markets, including a role as vice-president of global banking for RBC Dominion Securities.

The company (CVQ-TSXV) has also named Norman Oliver as senior vice-president of sales and marketing. Oliver has nearly two decades of experience in corporate outsourcing, sales and marketing.

CV Technologies (CVQ-TSXV) is an Edmonton-based developer of natural health products.

Calgary’s Mount Royal College has appointed Dr. Branko Peterman as director of the Institute for Applied Environmental Research and Innovation (IAERI). Most recently, Peterman was president and CEO of University of Saskatchewan Technologies Inc. (UST), a Saskatoon company that serves as a commercialization arm of the University of Saskatchewan.

Prior to that, he worked for Natural Resources Canada and Carleton University in Ottawa.

IAERI was established to facilitate environmental research for sustainable business practices and community development.

Timberline Forest Inventory Consultants Ltd. is undergoing changes at the top.

President and co-founder Mark Godfrey has stepped down, but will continue as board chairman and part-time consultant. He will be replaced by chief operating officer Doug Walker of Edmonton, who has been with the company for 10 years.

The changes are part of a Timberline strategy to transfer ownership and management to Timberline employees. The company is based in Vancouver, but Walker will remain in Edmonton to support local clients.

Barry Wolton has been appointed president and CEO of Cinnaroll Bakeries Ltd. of Calgary. He replaces the late Brian Latham.

Wolton has more than 23 years in the restaurant and food management industry and has been with Cinnaroll Bakeries for more than a decade. He has risen through the ranks to his most recent position as vice-president.

Cinnaroll Bakeries is the parent company of Cinnzeo, a franchisor of cinnamon roll bakeries. Cinnaroll also operates Baker Boys, a commercial bakery specializing in frozen cinnamon rolls.
