Red Deer businessman Glenn Simon has been named the new president of the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce.

Simon, founder and partner in Glenn’s Family Restaurant, takes over from outgoing president Don Oszli.

Simon is credited with playing a key role in the development and preservation of the Gasoline Alley Business District along Highway 2 on the city’s southern edge.

Morley Brown has stepped down as president and chief executive of Infiniti Resources International Ltd.

Chief operating officer Gordon Holden has assumed his duties on an interim basis. Holden was president and CEO until Brown assumed the role in February 2001.

Calgary-based Infiniti (IRL-TSXV) focuses on low- and medium-risk oil and gas projects.

Edmonton-based CodeBaby Corp. has named Douglas Johnson to the post of director of marketing.

Johnson, who has eight years of experience in the high-tech sector, was most recently marketing director at Strydent Software Inc.

CodeBaby Corp. is the developer of Intelligent Agent software.

Chris Read has resigned as vice-president of finance and CFO of Producers Oilfield Services Inc.

He has been replaced by Bob Baldwin, who spent nearly 15 years in senior positions with Mullen Transportation Inc. before leaving the company in July 2001.

Producers Oilfield Services Inc. is a Calgary-based oilfield services corporation.

Mark Poelzer has stepped down as chief financial officer and vice-president of finance of Questor Technology Inc.

Poelzer will pursue other business interests, but will continue to work with the company until a replacement is found.

Calgary-based Questor (QST-TSXV) develops environmental technologies for the oil and natural gas industry.

Shawn Ovenden is the new vice-president of operations for Calgary-based software development firm Sterne Stackhouse Inc. (SSX-TSXV). Ovenden, who was previously a consultant for the company, is a former vice-president of ZettaWorks Canada Inc., based in Houston, Tex.

Pangaea Systems Inc. has named Peter Brown as managing director for its Calgary branch. A delivery director in the Calgary branch since last November, Brown has more than 20 years of experience in the regional IT market. Pangaea provides e-business services for a variety of industries.

Dr. Ian Potter has been appointed director of sustainable energy futures for the Edmonton-based Alberta Research Council (ARC).

Potter will develop and implement programs to meet cleaner energy needs in the province and across Canada. He joined ARC in 2000 and has served in a variety of senior roles, including director of the Cleaner Hydrocarbon Technologies Futures group.
