RV City and Frontier Honda share a family heritage, and a simple slogan – “It’s Worth The Drive!”

RV City is committed to offering quality products and exceptional service and has built a strong reputation in the RV community, with consumers and manufacturers alike.

Founded by Garry and Brent Hodgins and now run by Garry’s son Ross, the firms have been family owned since their beginnings. The brothers started in business together in the late ’60s in a gas station and automotive repair business. In the late ’70s St. Albert Tire and Auto moved out to Morinville, added Honda Automobiles and RVs by Edson and Diplomat and became known as Frontier Honda and Trailer Town. As their offering expanded, the Trailer Town name was changed to RV City to better reflect the wide range of products being offered.

Ross joined the firm, fulltime, in 1989 after completing a BA in Recreation Administration from the University of Alberta. He went to work on the sales floor in 1989; his passion for the RV lifestyle and his desire to help people complemented his role as an RV Sales Consultant. Today, Ross is the Dealer Principal for both RV City and Frontier Honda.

Ross Hodgins, Dealer Principal, left, and some of the team at RV City, who make it worth the trip to Morinville.

Ross says of his partners, Garry and Brent Hodgins: “Both their backgrounds are in the service industry . . . that is why our focus is not only on retail, but on service. We sell what we service and service almost any other product as well.”

Indeed, service has been a big part of the long-term success of RV City and Frontier Honda. With 23 service bays for RVs, eight for Honda – this business is serious about looking after their clients. The RV City Parts Department – with $500,000 worth of parts for all makes of RVs – is second to none, Ross says, and their RV Body Shop and Reconditioning Facilities are well known for taking care of any user or mother nature incurred damage. All pre-owned units are serviced and inspected to ensure family safety and enjoyment.

On the 20-acre site you will find over 300 new and used RVs – some of the best names in the industry. For new units, RV City is proud to offer products by Jayco, Travelaire, Nomad by Skyline and Great West Vans.

Jayco has been building RVs since 1968, and is also a family owned business whose business practices are rooted in family values, affordable quality and industry leading warranty policies. Jayco is the second largest manufacturer of tent trailers, travel trailers, fifth wheels and Class C motorhomes in North America. RV City has been offering Jayco products since 1982 and is today one of Jayco largest retailers in Canada. Jayco’s product lineup is diverse from 8 ft. tent trailers under $10,000 to 40 ft. units just under $100,000.

RV City is also proud to offer Travelaire Canada’s lineup of travel trailers, fifth wheels and Class C motorhomes. RV City has been partnered with Travelaire for over 10 years and is pleased to provide an industry leading Canadian manufactured product. Travelaire was originally founded in Edmonton in the 1950s and the units are now produced in Red Deer – if you are interested factory tours are available.

RV City recently added Nomad products by Skyline RV. Skyline has been producing quality RVs for over 50 years and provides RV City clientele with another quality choice and a wide array of layouts. Most recently, Nomad Rampage and Lite Way have been introduced that offer smaller and mid-sized toy haulers for the outdoor enthusiast – units are anticipated to start arriving in mid summer.

RV City also offers camperized vans produced by Great West, manufactured in Winnipeg. Canadian quality and innovation are evident in these units. Well worth a look.

Ross, takes pride in offering reputable products, produced by manufacturers that honour their warranties and commitments to the customer. Ross says: “We are not going to offer products that we would have to apologize for later. We would sooner explain the quality that is present than make excuses for the lack of it.”

Why make the drive to Morinville, when there are plenty of RV dealers in Edmonton?

“Our customer say it’s worth the drive,” commented Ross. Here is an example of some of the comments we have received on our customer feedback forms. “You’re honest and fair. Great People!.” “We enjoyed dealing with RV City. All the staff was friendly and courteous. Quality of product and dealership location were both positive items in making our decision.” “This is my second purchase from RV City – I have no problems in getting parts or service.” “The customer service was outstanding!” “The staff was professional throughout the entire process.”

RV City is a company that cares about its customers and cares about the products it offers. Ross is proud of the fact that a majority of their business is repeat and referral. “It is exciting to see family members of families we have helped in the past getting involved with the RV lifestyle.”

RV City is proud of their team members. More than 75 work at RV City and Frontier Honda, some of whom has been with the company for well over 20 years.

Prices are competitive with any RV company in the Edmonton area, thanks in part to RV City’s lower overhead and volume purchasing practices. RV City has new travel trailers starting from as low as $15,900 for a well equipped unit.

To serve our clients as they travel across Canada, RV City has become a member of RV Care. RV Care is a network of dealers across Canada that provides travelling customers with peace of mind and a location to get service if required.

RV City is also an active member of the RVDA (Recreational Vehicles Dealers Association), AMVIC (Alberta Motorhome Vehicle Industry Council), and CAFÉ (Canadian Association of Family Enterprises).

RV City’s sister company, Frontier Honda, carries the full lineup of Honda automobiles – Civics, Accords, Pilots, CRVs and the newest addition, Elements. For more information on Frontier Honda visit www.frontierhonda.ab.ca or phone 780-939-3666 or send an e-mail to sales@frontierhonda.ab.ca.
