A Calgary-based Web site developer has been hired by the world’s largest manufacturer of computer monitors to build and operate a sophisticated web marketing site.
Critical Mass has been selected by the U.S. marketing arm of South Korean electronic giant Samsung to create and run the microsite — which integrates product information, coming events and Hollywood movie previews.
The first phase of the site, at www.samsungmonitor.com/spotlight, is in operation now providing highlights of Samsung’s flat-screen monitors, movie previews and details of company activities.
Ardith Lowell of Samsung’s Digital Information Technology Division said the Korean company hopes to use the website as an entertaining way to interest potential monitor buyers while building brand loyalty. “The new site provides a highly engaging experience for all consumers.”
Samsung, a $23-billion US company with operations in 63 countries, is one of the Top 10 electronics manufacturers in the world. In addition to computer monitors, it manufactures fax machines, multifunction devices and CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives.
Critical Mass integrates Web design, personalization technologies and e-commerce applications. It has offices in Calgary, Chicago, New York and Sweden.
