William (Bill) Collins has been named general manager for Sandman’s new Calgary Airport Hotel, Suites and Spa in the city’s northeast.
The Calgary native, who has more than 20 years of senior management experience, was most recently GM of the Calgary Airport Hampton Inns & Suites.
Sandman is an independently owned hospitality company that owns and manages properties in more than 30 locations.
Edmonton-based TRLabs has named Dr. John McRory as its acting VP of research.
McRory joined TRLabs in 1992 and was promoted to director of Calgary operations in 2002. Prior to that, he held design and management positions with NovAtel Communications.
He is also an adjunct professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Calgary.
TRLabs creates technologies and trains students to enhance ICT expertise and improve Canada’s global competitiveness.
Labs in Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina and Winnipeg employ 265 people.
Calgary-based Good Earth Coffeehouse and Bakery has named Bruce Fox as its chief operating officer. Fox has more than two decades of food-service industry experience under his belt, including executive positions with two major Canadian companies. Good Earth operates a chain of eight cafes and coffeehouses in Calgary.
Connie Maliki has joined the Calgary Chamber of Commerce’s new business centre. The centre is a collaboration between the chamber and the Talent Pool Project, a private and public partnership that aims to increase the pool of skilled workers through its New Immigrant Workforce Development Project. Maliki will serve as the centre’s co-ordinator.
Prior to joining the chamber, Maliki worked as a marketing and customer service officer with the U.S.-based Citibank in Lagos, Nigeria, where she also earned a law degree.
R. Scott Hutcheson is the new chief operating officer for CML Global Capital Ltd. The company recently relocated its head office from Vancouver to Calgary.
CML is an investment firm with a focus on office- commercial real estate ownership, and development and parking real estate and management in Western Canada, Asia and Belize.
