John Beauparlant is stepping down as president of Comac Food Group Inc. of Calgary on March 31. Beauparlant will continue working with the firm as a consultant until a successor is found.
Comac (CFX.B-TSXV) is a food service company with more than 250 Canadian franchise and corporate locations operating under the names Domino’s Pizza, Pastel’s Café and Company’s Coming Bakery Café.
Canadian Natural Resources Limited has made two key appointments.
Steve Laut has been named chief operating officer of the Calgary-based energy firm. Laut has more than 23 years of experience in the oil and natural gas industry and has been with the company since 1991.
Canadian Natural has also named Martin Cole as vice-president and managing director of international operations. Cole, who will be based in the company’s international headquarters in Aberdeen, Scotland, will oversee projects in the North Sea and offshore West Africa. Cole, who has more than 30 years of industry experience, joined company predecessor Ranger Oil in 1997.
Nova Chemicals chairman Ted Newall has been named to the board of directors of the Toronto-based Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB).
Newall was among a series of three-year appointments announced recently by CPAB founding chair Gordon Thiessen, former governor of the Bank of Canada.
Also named to the 11-member board is Steve Glover, executive director of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.
The board is a new independent organization established to oversee the auditors of public companies. Its mission is to contribute to public confidence in the integrity of financial reporting by Canadian public companies.
Shelton Canada Corp. has appointed David Little as a director of the corporation. Previously, Little was the chairman and CEO of Avery Resources Inc.
Shelton (STO-TSXV) is an Alberta junior oil and gas company.
Shawn Derby has been named senior location executive responsible for IBM in Calgary. He assumes this role in addition to his current duties as IBM territory executive overseeing Alberta’s private sector.
Derby joined IBM in 1984 as a marketing representative in Regina. He moved to Calgary in 1995 and has held several sales and management positions prior to assuming his current role.
Joseph Ball is Aquest Explorations Ltd.’s new vice-president, production.
Most recently, Ball was a petroleum consultant at Niven Fischer Energy Management where, since March 2002, he has managed the oil and gas assets recently purchased by Aquest.
Calgary-based Aquest (AQZ-TSXV) is engaged in the exploration, development and production of oil and natural gas.
Ezee-On Mfg. Ltd. has appointed Ray Jamieson as its sales manager for North America.
Jamieson was most recently the regional dealer development manager (Western Canada) with AGCO Corporation of Georgia.
Vegreville-based Ezee-On, a wholly owned subsidiary of Laniuk Industries Inc., manufactures agricultural implements including front-end loaders, post drivers, and large acreage tillage, seeding and disc implements.
