Sun Life Financial Inc. (TSX:SLF), a major insurer based in Toronto, says it has appointed veteran U.S. financial executive Jon Boscia as the company's new president. Boscia will be based in Wellesley Hills, Mass., and will be responsible for Sun Life's overall U.S. business, apart from Massachusetts Financial Services Co., and oversee worldwide marketing. Boscia retired from Lincoln Financial Group in August 2007 where he was CEO for a decade. Westley Thompson has been named president of SLF U.S. and Terrence Mullen president of Sun Life Financial Distributors Inc. Both come from Lincoln Financial Group. Robert Salipante has been appointed president of SLF International and will work at Sun Life's corporate office in Toronto.

Jagoda Pike is leaving her post as publisher at Star Media to help lead Ontario's bid for the 2015 Pan American Games. Pike is joining the Pan Am bid group as COO. Torstar has named Donald Babick, a former senior executive in the Southam and Canwest newspaper organizations, as interim president of the Star Media group and publisher of the Toronto Star.

TMX Group Inc. (TSX:X) says that Peter Conroy has been named president of Shorcan Brokers Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary. He replaces James Magee, who becomes a special adviser. Conroy was previously director of futures markets at the Montreal Exchange. The TMX Group includes the Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, Montreal Exchange and Shorcan. Its head office is in Toronto, with other offices in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.

The appointment follows a decision by CFO Mario Stifano to join a Lake Shore Gold (Corp.) as its CFO. Stifano will continue in his current role for a transition period following which Wickham will assume the Ivernia CFO role as well. Wickham brings more than 25 years' experience as a senior financial executive, most recently at Trizec Canada. Ivernia is an international base-metals operating, development and exploration company with its head office in Toronto.

Erik Martin will remain corporate secretary and financial consultant. Detour Gold's main focus is the exploration and development of its Detour Lake gold project in Northern Ontario.
