Customers of online travel company Tripeze.com will be able to earn rewards while they enjoy their vacation or travel to their business meetings.

The Calgary-based, privately owned company is teaming up with Vancouver’s RewardStream Inc. to develop a rewards and incentives scheme.

Details of how the program will work, and the financial arrangements between the two companies, have not been finalized. However, the rewards could be in the form of gift certificates or points.

Cutomers will be able to spend these on more Tripeze.com travel products or on the products of other RewardStream partners.

Founded early in 1999, RewardStream has already signed 17organizations as partners, including Cathay Pacific, Canada 3000, Chapters and The Brick, says Vida Morkunas, vice-president of product marketing. It also has charities on its list, including The Canadian Cancer Society, so consumers can make donations with their points or gift certificates.

Customers of RewardStream’s other clients will be able to use their rewards to purchase products from Tripeze.com

Public relations manager for Tripeze.com Jeff Adams says: “It is one more example how we, as an Internet company, are building a relationship with our customers.”

Traditional businesses can build relationships through face-to-face interaction, but Internet comapnies have to find other ways, including 24-hour service centres and profiling of customer needs, says Adams.

RewardStream is building a family of companies that can work together for mutual benefit, he says.
