MChief Roy Whitney of the Tsuu T’ina Nation has announced that he will be leaving his job.
Whitney, 47, has been chief for 16 years. Although his term runs for another 18 months, he will step down before that time. He has not given a date.
Whitney said he’s tired of the job’s responsibilities and cited personal reasons, including the suicide of his teenaged son, for his decision.
Whitney is known as a sharp businessman who has developed a business climate on the reserve southwest of Calgary.
Reg Toliver has been named the new president of Luscar Ltd., succeeding Gordon Ulrich, who resigned as president and chief executive officer.
Toliver was most recently vice-president of Alberta production for Agrium Corp., North America’s largest producer of nitrogen fertilizer.
A mechanical engineering graduate at the University of Alberta, Toliver has three decades of operations experience, gained largely in line management in the fertilizer industry.
Luscar Ltd. is Canada’s largest coal producer with mines in Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
Jon Havelock has joined the board of directors at Energy and Environmental Management Systems.
Havelock is a former Alberta Economic Development Minister. A Canadian-owned company, E2MS Inc. helps companies monitor their energy use in real-time, providing information allowing them to reduce utility bills and manage their energy use more efficiently.
Tim Carruthers has been named VP, business development at IO-TEK Inc. Carruthers was previously a regional director for Investors Group in British Columbia, and an executive with more than 16 years of experience in the sales industry.

John Eddy, chief executive officer of Replicon Inc., has announced the company’s new board of directors.

Derek Evans has been named VP, business development at Storm Energy Inc. A professional engineer, Evans spent 14 years in a number of positions at Renaissance Energy until the company was sold in the summer of 2000. Storm Energy Inc. is a junior oil and gas exploration and production company.
Sandra Brick has been appointed VP, finance with Peyto Exploration & Development Corp. Brick has been Peyto’s controller since January 1999 and has been with Peyto (PEY–CDNX), an oil and gas company, since its began operations in 1998.
