The University of Calgary's Faculty of Humanities, in collaboration with the Haskayne School of Business, has named Gregory Daneke as the first appointee to the Chair in Business Ethics.
Daneke comes to the U of C from his post as a professor of technology and resource management at Arizona State University.
The chair at the U of C links ethical issues with specific industry and community concerns, notably energy and the environment.
Rival Energy Ltd. (TSXV:RGY) has made two additions to its management team. John Wilson has joined as vice-president of exploration while Kenneth Pretty has joined the company as manager of land.
Wilson was most recently a senior geologist with Crew Energy Ltd. Pretty has held senior management positions in land and business development with several intermediate oil and gas producers in the last seven years.
Calgary-based Rival is a junior energy firm with operations in southwest Saskatchewan and east-central Alberta.
James Runyan has joined Genoil as senior VP of engineering and operations.
The company says Runyan has significant engineering, procurement and construction experience, as well as a track record of growing companies.

Big Rock Brewery Ltd. has appointed Ken Barbet, former head of the Nova Scotia Liquor Corp., as the regional brewer's new president.
Barbet will take over from Bob King, who is retiring after six years as president of the Calgary-based company. King will remain with Big Rock (TSX:BR.UN) in an advisory and consulting capacity, the brewer said.
