IBM Corp. has named longtime company veteran Dan Fortin as president of the computer services giant's Canadian division.
Fortin, 48, replaces Ed Kilroy, who left IBM Canada Ltd. last month to become chief executive of Symcor Inc.
Peter Currie will become chief financial officer of Nortel Networks Corp. (TSX:NT.TO, NYSE:NT) on Feb. 14. Most recently Currie was vice-chairman and CFO of RBC Financial Group. He replaces William Kerr, who has agreed to serve as senior advisor to the CEO.
Nortel also announced that its controller, MaryAnne Pahapill, has accepted a financial position outside the company. Karen Sledge will assume the role of controller on an interim basis as of Feb. 7.
Ottawa technology company Metconnex Inc. has named Peter Becke as the chief executive and Phil Wilkinson as vice-president of operations. Becke succeeds company co-founder Thomas Ducellier, who will continue to lead technology development as chief technology officer.
Becke most recently was CEO of semiconductor communications company SiberCore Technologies.
Home products and accessories maker CFM Corp. (TSX:CFM) says Richard Anderson has resigned as executive vice-president of its fireplace group to pursue other opportunities.
Toronto-based oil and gas explorer Nelson Resources Ltd. has appointed Nicolas Greene as chief financial officer and Simon Gill as chief operating officer.
Greene, 57, was formerly senior vice-president for corporate finance. Gill, 49, served as western region manager for Nelson since 2003.
Nelson has operations in Kazakhstan.
Privately held messaging security solutions provider BorderWare Technologies says Tim Leisman has joined it as president and CEO. Company co-founder John Alsop remains as chairman.
Tourism Toronto has elected Lyle Hall as chairman of the board. Hall has 25 years of consulting and hands-on experience in the hospitality and tourism industry, starting as a restaurateur in Calgary. Before forming Hall Hospitality Advisors in early 2004, he was the national director of the hospitality, leisure and tourism practice at KPMG.
Tourism Toronto is the official destination-marketing organization for Greater Toronto's tourism industry. It operates as a not-for-profit association with nearly 900 members and is a partnership of public and private sectors.
Mobile device security provider Diversinet Corp. (OTCBB:DVNTF) has appointed Kashif Hassan as president, Michael J. O'Farrell as chief marketing officer, David Annan as chief technology officer and Charles Walton as executive vice-president for corporate development.
Hassan joins Diversinet from Mobile Diagnostix, where he was chairman of the board until the company was acquired in 2004.
Diversinet has its headquarters in Toronto.
Computer graphics firm ATI Technologies Inc. has appointed Patrick Crowley as chief financial officer and senior vice-president for finance.
He replaces the retiring Terry Nickerson, who will continue to consult for the company on an advisory basis, ATI (TSX:ATY) said. Crowley most recently served as executive VP and CFO for Canada Life Financial Corp.
PBB Global Logistics says Robert J. Armstrong is to join the company March 1 as senior VP for government affairs.
Armstrong has headed the Canadian Association of Importers and Exporters Inc. (I.E. Canada) since 1997.
PBB Global Logistics (TSX:PBB.UN) provides third-party international logistics services.
Payroll and HR software developer and vendor Aspen Avanti Inc. (Private), has named Peter Goudreau as business development manager for Central and Eastern Canada in its Ontario office. Goudreau has more than 20 years in sales and time and attendance solutions. Avanti has offices in Calgary and Mississauga.
