WestJet (TSX:WJA) has made several executive changes. Matthew Handford, who joined WestJet in June of 2005 as a vice-president, is now the executive vice-president of people. Fred Ring, who previously held this title, is now the airline's executive VP of corporate projects.

Based in Calgary, WestJet is a low-fare airline offering scheduled service throughout its 34-city North American network.

Birch Mountain Resources Ltd. of Calgary (TSXV, AMEX: BMD) has appointed Derrick Kershaw as its senior vice-president.

Kershaw has served on Birch Mountain's board of directors since June 2004 and will lead the technical and operations teams while continuing as a director. He retired in 2003 from Syncrude.

Matrikon Inc. (TSX:MTK) says its executive VP of operations, Shafin Kanji, is resigning effective Jan. 31 to accept the positions of president and chief executive officer at JER Envirotech International Corp.

Matrikon plans to fill the vacated position through an internal promotion.

The Edmonton-based firm provides industrial intelligence services that predict and prevent problems at manufacturing plant operations.

Arrowhead Water Products Ltd. of Calgary (TSXV:AWP.A) says chief executive officer Peter Jurisic has left the company, to be replaced in the interim by current president Dan DeMaere.

Russell Rogers has also been appointed as general manager of Arrowhead's Calgary operations. Rogers was most recently GM for Danone Waters of North America in Alberta.

Roy Maki has been appointed GM of operations in Edmonton. Maki has been with Arrowhead for the past six years.

Sylogist Ltd. (TSXV:SYZ) has appointed Michael Long as COO. Long joins Sylogist from six years at Fujitsu Consulting.

Calgary-based Sylogist provides information management and technology solutions to government and industry clients.
