Clive Beddoe is stepping down as president of WestJet (TSX:WJA) to be replaced by executive vice-president Sean Durfy, but will remain chief executive and chairman of the discount air carrier.

Durfy was formerly executive VP of marketing, sales and airports.

The Calgary-based airline said it has also added three other executive vice-presidents to its management team: Bob Cummings in guest experience and marketing, Hugh Dunleavy in commercial distribution and Ken McKenzie in operations.

The company also says that vice-president of guest services and information technology Russ Hall has resigned to seek other business opportunities.

Enerplus Resources Fund (TSX:ERF.UN, NYSE:ERF) has appointed Eric Le Dain to the position of vice-president of marketing.

Le Dain has more than 23 years of industry experience, most recently as executive director of energy marketing for UBS Commodities Canada Ltd.

Enerplus is an oil and gas income fund with operations throughout Western Canada and in the U.S.

Rick Tiede, P.Eng, has been promoted by Canetic Resources Trust (TSX:CNE.UN, NYSE:CNE) to chief operating officer. Tiede has been the vice-president for business development of Canetic and its predecessor Acclaim Energy Trust since October 2002.

Dean Morrison, CFA, has joined Canetic as director of investor relations. Previously, Morrison was the manager for investor relations at a senior oil and gas trust in Calgary.

Canetic is a Calgary-based oil and gas royalty trust.

Synenco Energy Inc. (TSX:SYN) has made two executive appointments: Idar Eikrem joins Synenco as executive VP and chief financial officer. Eikrem comes from Norsk Hydro ASA, where he was most recently senior VP and head of investor relations. He will start with Synenco in October.

Nicolaas Duursema joins Synenco as VP of project design and development. Duursema brings 18 years of professional engineering experience. He will start with Synenco on Oct. 31.

Synenco, a Calgary-based oilsands company, holds a 60-per-cent interest in and is the managing partner of the Northern Lights Partnership.

Crossfire Energy Services (TSXV:CFE) says Ed Wright, COO of Crossfire, has resigned to pursue other opportunities.

Calgary-based Crossfire provides design, fabrication and installation of oilfield facilities.

The new president and CEO of cancer vaccine developer Biomira Inc. (TSX:BRA, Nasdaq:BIOM) hopes to expand the company into a leading cancer therapeutics firm either through acquisitions or licensing new drugs.

Robert Kirkman was formerly the acting president and chief executive of Xcyte Therapies Inc.

Kirkman, a Harvard-trained medical doctor, takes over Biomira from former president and CEO Alex McPherson, who announced his resignation in April.

The biotech company has its headquarters in Edmonton.

Calgary-based North West Upgrading, a privately owned company planning to build an independent heavy-oil upgrader in Alberta's Sturgeon County, has made two appointments.

Heather Harris becomes VP of finance and CFO while Gary Vassie is promoted to senior VP and COO.

Harris was most recently the finance director for OPTI Canada Inc. Vassie was previously VP of project development at North West.

After more than two decades of guiding Lammle's Western Wear & Tack, its president Doug Lammle has retired after selling his interest in the business to his brother Barry.

Lammle's Western Wear & Tack was established in November 1983 in Calgary. Since then, the company expanded to 24 locations across the province.

In 2005, Lammle's was selected as one of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies.

Further to its reverse takeover deal with Well Elite Ltd. last month, IVG Enterprises Ltd. (TSXV:IVE) has named a new management team. Its current officers are: President, chairman and CEO, Lo Wing Hong; CFO, Lau Chak Wong; VP, Huang Wei Chen; and secretary, Alan Chan.

Calgary-based IVG operates principally through its subsidiary Well Elite, which trades various forestry products primarily in Japan, Taiwan and China.

Hesperian Capital Management Ltd. has made two appointments within its management team.

William Koenig, CFA, CMA, has been appointed to chief investment officer of Hesperian. Koenig has been with the company since 2003 and previously held the positions of VP and portfolio manager.

Carl Forman, CA, has been appointed the COO of Hesperian and will be responsible for running the non-investment side of the business. Forman has been with the company since 2002 and was appointed CFO in 2005.

Hesperian is a Calgary-based investment firm that manages the Norrep Group of Funds, which has approximately $700 million in combined assets.
