Ascalade Communications Inc. (TSX:ACG), a manufacturer of wireless communications products, has named veteran manufacturing executive Greg Allen as president of the Richmond company.

The appointment is effective June 21.

Edmund Ho, the outgoing president, will remain as Ascalade's chairman and CEO, and will focus on business strategy.

Before joining Ascalade, Allen spent more than a decade in senior management positions with large multinational manufacturers, most recently at Celistica Inc.

After a 35-year career in mining, Gary Livingstone is stepping down as president and CEO of Western Canadian Coal Corp. (TSX:WTN) but will remain as a special adviser.

John William Hogg, the chief operating officer, succeeds Livingstone as president and CEO, the Vancouver-based company said.

The company's current focus is on bringing into production assets in northeastern British Columbia.

Laura Jones has become the Canadian Federation of Independent Business's VP for Western Canada.

Stricklen was most recently a project manager at Inco's Thompson Smelter in Manitoba. Pothorin has been working on the company's Pinaya project in Peru as project manager since 2005. Former VP of exploration Jeffrey Reeder will continue as a company director.
