Canwest Global Communications Corp. (TSX:CGS) has named veteran company executive Peter Viner interim president of its broadcasting division. He is coming out of retirement to replace Kathy Dore, who is leaving in December after four years as head of TV operations. Canwest had said in August that Dore would be leaving. Viner was chief executive of Canwest for two years in the late 1990s, subsequently serving as publisher of the National Post and then president of Canwest's Canadian operations until his retirement in July 2007. * * * Viterra Inc. (TSX:VT) has named Bill Mooney as senior VP for livestock and feed services, the company said in a release. He replaces Bill McGill, who will assist with the transition and retire in 2009. Mooney has been with Viterra for six years, most recently as director of terminals. He will work from Okotoks, Alta. Viterra is an agribusiness with its head office in Regina. * * * Empire Industries Ltd. (TSXV:EIL) says that David Carefoot, CA, has been appointed CFO. Carefoot brings more than 24 years of accounting and finance experience. Empire is a steel fabricator and specialized engineered products manufacturer.
